Vaccines Mandatory for our kids in New Jersey? !

I’m getting on my soapbox. The Public Health Council on Monday is set to consider whether New Jersey should require flu shots as well as three additional vaccines. If approved, New Jersey would become the first state to require annual flu shots for children attending licensed preschool or day care centers.

Harumph. Too much connection between the mercury in the flu shots and autism. For more information and how to connect with the legislature, New Jersey Alliance for Informed Choice in Vaccination. Is there any relationship between the New Jersey pharmaceuticals and this legislation? Please take government and big business away from my children’s bodies.

For a great book on this topic, see
Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders
. The book is both hopeful and scary.

I emailed the governor and my state senator. And now, back to preparing for Shabbat…

  • You are certainly free to not immunize your children. I certainly hope they don’t fall prey to the diseases that caused such havoc when you and I (and our parents) were children. However, the link between vaccines and autism has been shown to be non-existent by many studies. See the references cited in this section:
I understand your concern about autism. I have a child with Aspberger’s Syndrome, and my wife is the principal of a Jewish special education school, so is involved ith many children with autism. But I would not trade my child’s life (he has asthma as well, and a flu infection could endanger his life) for the minute possibility that having a vaccine might be the cause of his Aspbergers. Is autism on the rise? No question. Are vaccinations on the rise? No question. Is mercury a poison? Of course. But those three facts alone do not show any causal link. Have sometimes deadly/disabling/mutagenic childhood diseases such as polio, mumps, measles, rubella, whooping cough been reduced in sheer numbers of cases per year from tens of millions in the 50’s and 60’s to only a few thousand in 2007 while our population has doubled in that same time? Yes, and that IS causal. Think about it.

  • My children are all vaccinated, though not with the flu vaccine.

My particular complaint is about the flu vaccine. And about it being REQUIRED by the government.

No, there may not be any definite proof on the link between vaccines and autism, but there is enough anecdotal evidence for me to hesitate.

Did you read the Bock book? Worth at least taking out of the library.
