Plagues by Middle Son

Here are nine of the ten plagues as depicted by Middle Son, about two years ago (third grade):
nine of ten plagues

Do you see how he depicted the fourth plague? Is he correct? Is it wild animals or is it insects? Last week, Professor Gary Rendsburg sent me three pdfs to put on his page, and one of them was entitled: Beast or Bugs? Turns out the Hebrew, עָרֹב, means mixture. In the second century Rabbi Judah said wild beasts, while Rabbi Nehemiah claimed insects. I kind of like the insects idea, as it goes nicely paired up with the lice. But, hey, you can read Gary’s article and make up your own mind.
