Local Boy Does Good

Several months ago I wrote about a cemetery desecration in New Brunswick, New Jersey. You might think, well, at least no one was hurt. People were hurt. Can you imagine if everyone you had known growing up was buried in one small cemetery, and a bunch of thoughtless teenagers came in and kicked over the gravestones of your loved ones?

It’s nice to report that a local teenager did a mitzvah, a good deed, and raised money to help pay for the cemetery restoration. Read the article in the New Jersey Jewish News before they take the article offline (these newspaper articles don’t stay up forever).

Thank you both, for reading about this. It was a sad day in our community when we heard about the vandalism, but it is so nice to hear all the support. I’m glad this teenage boy did the right thing. He’s a good example for others.

It’s wonderful to hear about young people taking an active, positive role in the community and to help bring some sense of
healing from such a hurtful crime.
