Today’s Flowers: Identify

I need your help. I bought this pretty vertical purple perennial in a plant nursery last month, and I don’t recall its name. Can anyone identify it?

I am thinking this is purple lobelia , because of these links:
Bluestone Perrenials
Purple Lobelia (Lobelia x speciosa ‘Grape Knee Hi’)
Lobelia cardinalis
(Thank you, EG Wow! and Sherry; thanks to Ilana-Davita for trying, maybe you are right and the orange flower is an eschscholzia.)

While I’m asking for identification, can you identify this orange flower?

Today’s Flowers is hosted by Luiz Santilli Jr. Thank you, Luiz, for allowing us flower followers to share our photos in a fun fashion.

Nice shot of a beautiful flower. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name. In fact, I ask that question all the time on my blog. ;-) Good luck finding out the name. I’d be interested to know, too.

Leora: What a great color for a flower in the garden. I leave the name to the flower experts.

    Hi, Leora
Both the climbing purple and orange flower to another are beautiful, but the name … I can not help it, because not to know, although I liked very much.
Thanks for sharing. Have a happy Today’s Flowers.
    hugs, Denise

Sorry I can not help with the name, but it is a beautiful purple flower.

Your mystery flower is very pretty! I don’t think I’m going to be much help either – maybe the plant nursery would be able to help if you took them one of the blossoms. Good luck with the id.

  8. Carletta says:

A lovely vibrant purple! Interesting how the petals hang down in an almost web foot design. :)
Hope someone can name it for you.

  9. Ilana-Davita says:

What about some kind of campanula?
It’s a beautiful deep purple anyway. Hope somebody can be more helpful.
I still think the orange one is some kind of eschscholzia. :-)

  10. Robin says:

I have no idea, but I love that shade of purple, so vibrant and rich.

  11. Sherry says:

I’m not sure, but it looks like Purple Lobelia. It’s gorgeous, whatever it is. I love that deep color.

  12. Leora says:

Ilana-Davita, maybe it’s campanula. Some of those looked more “bell”-like, but some were hanging down like these (I looked on Google images). But I’m going with the Lobelia guessers.

I’ll be back at the plant nursery next spring; I doubt I’ll make it back this fall. I’ll bring my photo with me!

Thanks to everyone for enjoying my purple flower!

Hmm, I agree with the campanula answer. Gorgeous purple nonetheless.
    Have a great week!

  14. Christine says:

Did we decide what this is? It’s gorgeous; I want one!

  15. I think it’s a purple lobelia. I planted one in my garden a few years ago but alas the conditions were not right for it.
