Sky Watch Highland Park

November 13th, 2008 by

Excluding the first photo with the red and yellow trees and the hanging shoe, the five sunset shots were taken within minutes of each other. I decided to use the Word Press photo gallery to set up this post. Unfortunately, you have to click twice to get the larger image, and then you have to use the back button to get back to the main post. Maybe Word Press 2.7 will improve this tool?

I love these photos. The silouettes of skeleton trees are stunning, as are the colors.

I didn’t know WordPress would do that at all. (I’m blogging illiterate.) That’s good to know because sometimes I want to do something like that.

  2. Mrs. S. says:

Is there a story behind the hanging shoe? How did it get there, and why?

    Shabbat Shalom.

  3. Leora says:

The hanging shoe(s): we actually have several of them on lampposts on our block. I believe teens play cruel tricks on other teens and throw them up there. No one ever takes them down, so they stay there for years.

Louise, one of the problems with this gallery is then the comments get left on the individual photos and on the main post; I’d rather they all stay on the main post. But on the other hand, it is amazingly easy to set up.

A great series of photos. Well done!

Nice presentation. Kids here haven’t thought of the hanging shoe trick, yet. I like the dark boughs in the foreground.

  6. All beautiful, Leora. I’m crossing my fingers that Word Press will improve. ;-)

  7. Photo Cache says:

So magnificent. I love all the photos.

  8. Beautiful – love the whole grouping of shots. In our area, a shoe over a phone wire is known as a sign for illicit drug dealing. Is that true in your area too?

  9. Leora says:

reluctantfarmchik, if it is (a shoe over a phone wire is known as a sign for illicit drug dealing), it’s news to me. I’ve never seen any drug dealing on our block (though two blocks away at the high school, one can sometimes smell scents that are illegal).

Leora, thanks for stopping by. Oh New Jersey! You just made me miss it. I lived in New Jersey for several years and the Autumn foliage was stunning. NJ is truly the Graden State.

  21. Lovely shots of the sunset

  22. I love the photos of huge bare branches this time of year. Somehow it seems that everything is so much clearer and uncluttered giving one a much deeper sense of fresh air.
