Girl with Tulip, watercolor on paper, 2009

I worked on this last week and the week before. I worked on another one in between my study of a girl with tulip and this one. This one came out brighter and less muddy. There are still pieces about it that bother me, but I’ll keep my mouth shut. Click to enlarge.

That’s really lovely. Is that your daughter?

  2. Leora says:

Nedra, yes, that’s her! I have some photos of her on the blog, too (example: http://www.leoraw.com/blog/2008/12/03/sepia-scenes-studies-of-a-girl/)

This is absolutely lovely, Leora. So filled with emotion and softness. I love how delicate her pose is.

  4. Robin says:

She looks younger here, softer. I like the delicate raise of the hand.

The left side looks a bit unfinished to me. Her socks sort of vanish into the pale background of the house.

It’s a beautiful picture Leora, you’re really talented.

  5. Leora says:

Robin, yes, good eye, I didn’t do much to the left side. But what bothers me more was the size of the head and the colors on the face. Whatever. I need to let these things go and move on to next creative project.

  6. It’s amazing how when the pictures are done using different materials it comes out different, and yet the subjects of the pictures are the same. I really like this one!

and I think the colors of the face look just right.

Your art is so beautiful Leora. I love it.

  8. Very nice to see that you have taken the painting again and found time for it! I find true talent in your watercolor! I like how you have worked with the shadows, very nice subtle pose and expression.

  9. ps. I’d be very happy if I were able to capture this kind of setting and frame with my camera as you have painted. Happy week end to all:)
