Sepia Scenes: Is it the 1950’s?

Is this Highland Park in the 1950's?

Is this Highland Park in the 1950's?

No, it’s South Fourth Avenue, taken with my camera set to sepia color!

    Hello Leora,
The cars, both shape and number revealed the year.
The mid-fifty feeling is definitely there.
Silent and dignified, half asleep, half waiting for something undefined to happen.
    Like being youg.

The cars really are all that gives it away.
This reminds me of the street my girlfriend lived on when we were teenagers.
    It’s a great shot Leora!

  3. Dang those cars! Otherwise you could have totally fooled me. ;-)

This street appeals to me. I like the big, older homes.

  4. Leora says:

I actually had a shot without the cars. But I kinda liked them. Glad you are having fun with this.

EG Wow: Highland Park is full of small, older homes (and a few big ones). Hard to get a 4 bedroom. I think those are two-family homes.

  5. Ralph says:

The Volvo on the end, although modern, does not take the 1950 out of this picture. Sepia makes the shot look older than it is, and perfect for that era…or this one too. Perfect!

  6. Tricia says:

Fantastic sepia shading! It really does look as if it was from that era! Really nice!!!

  7. Mojo says:

It could certainly pass but for the cars. If you could get a shot of clothes on the lines in the backyards, you could sell it as 1950 — or even earlier — and nobody’d ever suspect differently.

  8. Dot says:

You could have fooled me because I didn’t notice the cars until I read your comments. The bread below looks so good!!

Great effect on this row of houses. I like the trees on the rights too.

  14. Ilana-Davita says:

On the”right” of course. That’s where the “five-minute edit” button would come handy.

  15. Robin says:

The sepia really does make it look straight out of the fifties. Even the station wagon could almost work.

    Great choice.

  16. Jew Wishes says:

How classic and beautiful the photo is.

  17. sepia is definately the color of memory

  18. Patti V. says:

wow very nice and just perfect for Sepia. Without the cars you would really think that it was in the 50’s.:-))))

  21. annie says:

Good mood picture. Definitely not the 50’s I don’t think they posted Slow Down signs in neighborhoods back then. LOL

  22. Great job, Leora! Sure does look like the 50s! Happy SEpia Scenes!
