Head of Fish – and Body, Too

September 17th, 2009 by

And so with this fish I conclude my posts on the simanim (food symbols) of Rosh Hashana. Yes, folks, it is traditional to eat the head of a fish on the Jewish New Year, but no one is forcing you, so a head of lettuce would be fitting as well. My daughter drew this fish for school as representative of the “head of a fish”; I decided it would make a fun (funny?) post. I was tempted to submit it to Watery Wednesday, but I chickened out. Too many serious photographers posting fabulous sea and lake scapes on that meme for me to put in this little guy with his missing tale tail.

A few other Rosh Hashana posts from around the blogosphere:

I like your fish. Thanks for linking to my post but the Hebrew seems to have disappeared. I am afraid I won’t have the time to fix this.

  7. Sorry that you didn’t put it in for Watery Wednesday as I think it is perfect for that meme.
