Roses in Pottery on Porch

roses_in_pottery
While going through old photos last week, I discovered this photograph I had taken in the 1980’s on my parents’ porch. I didn’t really get into art photos until the digital camera age, but one could say this was the beginning of my discovering that photography doesn’t just have to be portraiture. The pottery was made by me; what luscious glazes this pot had!

Agree with using the views from the past. These roses are pretty and add an artistic view to the porch, and the nice tan. The slight ruby enhances the tan greatly, far more than the amount of color would seem to...

It's a very nice shot! Im so thankful for digital cameras, its so much cheaper than paying for photos. Plus you can take a million and pick the best ;)

Those are so gorgeous - because they are so real - so grounded - so full and heavy with business of life!

I like the film look of the photo and the softness it gives the whole image.
That you made the vase makes the shot even more interesting.
Was the picture taken then to show off the roses or the vase? :)
I hope you still have the vase.

My father might have the vase...I'm not sure. I remember it was too heavy, as early pots often are.

Beautiful roses and I LOVE the vase. Your good eye obviously developed long before the invention of digital cameras.

Great photo from the good old days, Leora ;-)

Ralph has scanned hundreds of our old pictures. He has more patience than I!

I love the vase you created. I admire your artistic talents. Carletta asked if the photo was taken to show off the roses, or your vase and I was wondering the same.

Happy Ruby Tuesday ~ thanks for stopping by my place.

I can't remember! Probably to show off both the roses and the vase. But now the porch is the most important part to me... it's my childhood porch.

I wish I were. When my youngest is in high school, I'm going to make it a priority to do either pottery or painting (both would fabulous!).

In the old photo
roses still look fresh, as if
you picked them at dawn.
