Philadelphia Zoo Carousel Reds

parrot on the zoo carousel at Philadelphia Zoo
My daughter and her friend enjoyed their ride on the Philadelphia Zoo carousel last week.

I imagine this parrot is saying “Awk! I am a handsome dude, aren’t I? Awk!”

Philadelphia Zoo
There is so much to see at the Philly Zoo that we only saw about half the place when we heard it was closing time. The girls really enjoyed the petting zoo and the big cats (pumas, leopards, lions).

I am running a new series interviewing bloggers who like to write about writing. The first one was an interview with Lorri of Jew Wishes. Please come back tomorrow and next week for the next two in this series. Thank you.

Nice photos although I am not fond of zoos. I did visit the Philadelphia zoo many years ago when my kids were little. Going to the zoo with kids is OK because they enjoy it. I guess I"ll have to take my grandkids sometime.

I'm not really big on zoos, either, Risa, but my daughter *REALLY* wanted to go to the Philadelphia Zoo. I kind of like Philadelphia, as far as cities go. It's kind of artsy and has lots of history.

Carousels are so good looking, the classic details are such a treat for the eyes. We are used to seeing horses going around, but these parrots are wonderful, bold colors and the birds in flight are carved so beautifully. Nice capture of no doubt a wonderful zoo!

They do provide good subject matter. I got some nice shots of my daughter and her friend on a horse. And some animal and water photos I may share on the blog.

'What are the birds made of?' - your guess is as good as mine. Some industrial strength plastic?

Hi Leora, so you are from Pennsylvania? I'm located at the northwest of it, near Allegheny forest. Beautiful Autumn here. That is a cute carving. I like birds!

I'm from New Jersey - it's about an hour drive to eastern Pennsylvania, a little further to Philadelphia.
