Lemon Tree by Julie

Lemon Tree by Julie Zagdanski
My friend Julie sent me her painting of her lemon tree to post on this blog. Julie, who lives in Hashmonaim, Israel, writes: “All of the fruit on our three citrus fruit trees are ripe. We also have an orange and a pomelo tree.”

This is one of the trees in her backyard. I took this photo in June 2008, when we visited her family.

This is a beautiful painting. Thanks to you both for sharing.
When I was in Hyères the citrus trees seemed almost ripe. The town of Menton has a lemon festival each year at the end of February and beginning of March. Unfortunately I have never been there.

Wow!
Julie's lemon tree is beauty both in paint and reality.
I fondly remember Julie fondly. She was then known to us as Morah Julie, whose HP preschool Ganeinu was my Maayan's first experience with group learning outside our home.
Now that same Maayan is taller than me and preparing to celebrate her bat mitzvah in HP in May!
Her invites are scheduled to go in the mail next week!
ANd Julie is growing lemons in Hashmonaim!
Send her my fondest regards, please and I hope she is enjoying those lovely looking lemons....

Thanks Yael! I remember being inspired by how you always spoke Hebrew with Maayan, please send my best wishes to her. If you're ever in Israel and want to come over for some lemonade, we'd love to see you!

What a wonderful painting. Used to have a lemon tree in my backyard but it had to be cut down. Many wonderful childhood memories of playing in its branches and making delicious juice out of the lemons!

Lemon trees give wonderful fruit, but be careful of the thorns! I love the painting.

You're right! Until I had a lemon tree, I had no idea that they had thorns...our pomelo tree has them too.
