New Hope Reds
May 23rd, 2011 by Leora
This little trolley is at the entrance to the train station in New Hope. The train just takes you on a 45 minute ride and back again through Bucks County, PA. It has an old-fashioned flavor, but it is from the early 20th century, and the town itself is much older. My favorite part of our trip was to the Parry Mansion, which was built in the 18th century. Five generations of Parrys lived in that house. You can learn more about the history of New Hope here.

Looking down the hill unto the bridge that crosses over the Delaware River into New Jersey, you can see there are a lot of shops, galleries and restaurants in this little quaint town.

Some of the stuff on display in New Hope is, well, a bit strange.

Great shots. Happy RT!
Mine’s here.
Looks like this town is busy. Like that last photo. ^_^

I like how you show us pictures from the places you visit day after day.
My favorite part, as I said, was the Parry House, but I didn’t get any shots outside the house, and photos are restricted within (or I assumed they would be from past experiences with historical homes).
nice entry!
This is a cool and artistic sort of river town that has the feel of a long time ago – still. The ‘Villa Vito’ seems a place to dine in a relaxing old world spot at a relaxing pace. As for the odd stuff, it adds to the ambience and charm of an eclectic place along the Delaware…
Yes, it’s funky and old-fashioned!
This is an interesting authentic area.
You are showing me parts of New York I in fact didn’t know existed. I like to have my horizon broadened, and in such an interesting way.
Thanks for being such a good guide.
P.s. I have experienced (in Norway and partly in London) that cellphone cams are allowed as long as I keep the flashlight turned off.
I love the little trolley
and the street scene is a great shot, gives a real feel for the town
Oh, I do like the strange–weird, actually!–stuff in the lower photo!
A SPLASH OF RED
A splash of red or a dash of blue—
Which is the color that’s just for you?
A hint of blue or a tint of red—
Which of these colors goes to your head?
Of all the colors under the sun,
Red is simply my favorite one!

Love all your poems. Such a treat as a comment.
Great finds for Ruby.
I played too. My entries are here and here.
the old fire house is in Red Bank, on one of those narrow little streets Red Bank is famous for
If you’re looking for a day trip the first weekend of June River Fest is taking place at Marine Park in Red Bank
all the restaurants will have booths and there will be music and crafts and more
Same weekend as the Israel Day Parade – I’ll be on 5th Avenue in NYC, with my kids’ school.
New Hope looks like a charming place. It’s funny because I noticed we went through a New Hope in WV and commented about how in NC there was a New Hope as well as a road in my town called New Hope. I’ve also seen a New Hope River and lots of New Hope Church roads. Popular name!
Yes, New Hope does have a cheerful ring.
My daughter named the doll she got in New Hope: Tikva, which means Hope in Hebrew.
Great Ruby post Leora. Looks like a fun town to investigate!
Nice photos. What a nice complement of rubies.
