The Meadows

Along the river edge of The Meadows in January 2003, the cattails were snow laden, the trees on the far bank all white, and the entire river about to freeze shore to shore (a not very common event). But these mallards hung around in the cold. Their only pressing concern seemed to be putting some distance between them and the photographer. Their fleeing suggests that these are migrating wild mallards, not fat and stodgy park denizens.
