The staghorn sumac's yellows and deep reds stand out in late October at the
Native Plant Reserve on River Road. Because sumac prefers to grow with a
good deal of sun, it tends to hug the edges of woods. What this means
visually is that its bold colors tend to be found standing out against a
darker background of woods--handy for any photographer who happens by. |
