At this spot in the Rutgers Ecological Preserve, two permanent streams and one intermittent stream channel come together, uniting branches of Buell Brook, iced over at this season. It is also the spot dividing the Edison portion of the preserve (to the left) from the Highland Park portion (right, and continuing down to River Road). To the rear of the view, unseen, the warehouses of Livingston College would be to the left and in Edison, while the Treetop Appartments of Cedar Lane would be to the right and in Highland Park, with the road between marking the boundary. The photo was taken during a tour by David Wheeler of the Edison Wetlands Association, together with Carol Avelsgaard of Highland Park's Shade Tree Advisory Committee and Arnold Henderson of the Environmental Commission and STAC.
