| Snow can do odd things to animal tracks. In this December 2002 photo from the Rutgers Ecological Preserve, the snow has been deep enough that the deer's feet have not quite cleared it, scuffing along the surface to leave a trail like the marks of a tiny skier. An oak leaf nestles in the hollows. |
