Highland Park proposes a system of small environmental education sites or "centers" spread throughout a riverfront greenway. Natural habitats will be preserved and rehabilitated with plantings of native trees, shrubs, and flowers, attracting wildlife. Centers will vary: sometimes a roofed pavilion, sometimes a stone council ring, sometimes a few simple seats. Sign boards will display environmental information. A major grant from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders will be used along with smaller grants and volunteer participation.
