"Black-crowned night herons tolerate cities better than most herons and forage along our Raritan River natural spaces. The best place to see them, though, is perhaps the pond by the railroad bridge in Johnson Park. This is a picture of a black-and-white adult; the brown speckled juveniles are harder to see among tree branches, watching you long before you see them."
