The coyotes who arrived at the Rutgers Ecological Preserve some years back have made themselves known in various obscure ways. They've prowled along behind Cleveland Avenue. They've been glimpsed briefly in the woods. They've howled in concert with the fire sirens when the Metlar-Bodine house burned in 2003. Now one has decided to come out in the open and sit for its first photo portrait at the edge of the Preserve just opposite the Livingston College Student Health Center.
