red tail hawk landing

Here's one of Highland Park's red-tailed hawks caught right at the moment of landing on the WCTC radio tower in The Meadows. Study the details: the stretched and slightly cupped wings, the body rearing back almost vertical in the air, the feet stretching forward. The tower is a favorite perch of the red-tails, peregrine falcon, and maybe even bald eagle, so as you stroll Donaldson Park or the new Meadows trail, remember to look up.
