Ruby Tuesday Raspberries

We are fortunate in our wonderful crop of raspberries that grow in our backyard. The bottom photo shows a bowl of these delightful berries that my husband picked. Truth is, these berries rarely make it into our kitchen, as we love to eat them in our backyard, right off the branch. No need for recipes. We get crop #1 in early July on old canes and #2 in late August on the new, green canes. One trick for maintaining these berry bushes is be sure to prune the old canes.

To participate in Ruby Tuesday, post a photo (or more) with a little red or a LOT of red. Then visit Mary the Teach at http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ to submit your link.

Oh, I'm envious! Our raspberries produce only one crop a year. But you are so-o-o right that they rarely make it to the kitchen. Happy Ruby Tuesday!

In your backyard??? I am envious! If I had access to the beautiful berries, I'd eat on cereal, make raspberry vinegar, enhance a salad...no limit to the uses of this divine berry!

Fortunate is right! Those cost about $4 (USD) a pint where I live. And in addition to being one of my more favorite berries, they make a spectacular RT display!
Nicely done.

Excellent choice for Ruby Tuesday!

Re your comment at Jerusalem Hills Daily Photo - "Louis" agrees with you. When he lived in France, he found a lot of the same sentiment by the French. We often forget about 1870 when we recall 1914 and 1940.
