Ruby Tuesday at the Circus

contortion
My daughter and I visited the circus in New York City last week. Here are four photos (of the 108 photos I took that day) that have some red. All can be enlarged by clicking. What is this person doing with his body?

My favorite part of the whole Barnum and Bailey Ringling Brothers Circus was the elephants.

These acrobats had dim lighting, but the reds attracted my eye.

dancers
One can understand why they call this the Greatest Show on Earth. Everywhere you look on stage, there is some action. One act is starting when the previous finishes its presentation. The dancers with the swinging skirts were marvelous.

108, that's a lot! You seem to have picked up a great circus. When I was a little girl, we lived near a big meadow where circuses pitched up their tents; I loved it when my parents took us there.

I bet your daughter will remember this experience forever. My uncle took me to the circus once. See, all these years later I haven't forgotten. ;-)

On the top, I am guessing that the performing artist might may be falling to the floor in a corkscrew fashion - or quickly spinning around the axis of the rope...

To have three distinct rings of action makes us try to make perfect sense of it all. Kids and adults.

But you have captured our sense of wonder just what is happening in front of us. real or imagined! What a great post!

I went to a circus only once when I was a kid. I would love to go to one again. :)

That is a really large circus..I think the one we went to had only the center ring.....but it seemed very large to a child...

There's nothing like Barnum and Bailey...

My parents took my kids to a small circus last week - my daughter watched the acrobats do stunts like those in your first shot and came home raving about "the trick the lady did with the laundry" LOL.

Hi Leora, ive been to local circus here in my place but nothing as interesting as shown here in your pics. I thought the person in the top photo is a mouse. :D

Thank you for sharing and happy RT!

What a great experience you gave you daughter. I remember seeing B&B Circus once when I was in my early 20's. Enchanting. The first picture is fascinating in its elegance.

the top photo is stunning, amazing how you captured that

I posted about this circus when it first came to NY and feel the need to mention that they are being investigated for abuse to the elephants - I think people need to know that

Dianne, I'm sorry to hear about the abuse. Sad.

How wonderful, gorgeous reds especially in the last shot. Funny we love the circus as a child but can almost appreciate it more as an adult.

You captured some great reds here Leora! I'll bet you were thinking 'Ruby Tuesday' as you sat in the audience ;-)

I imagine I would have taken that many photos as well, with so much activity going on around me.

Happy Ruby Tuesday ~

These are all beautiful, so colorful and filled with joy, and redness!

I would have taken that many, too, if not more.

You were sitting in a perfect spot to watch them come out!
