Salute to Israel Parade Reds

stilts
This woman on tall stilts was quite talented. Does anyone know what SDNY stands for? Security Defense of New York? There were a lot of them in the contigent for the Israeli government – extra security, we surmised. (Tink says in the comments it stands for “Southern District of New York”).

electric car of Israel
Did you know that researchers in Israel are working hard on an electric car? Via Twitter, I discovered the man in the car is Michael Granoff (mikejgr).

juggler
How does this guy juggle and ride a unicycle at the same time?

I'm glad to hear Israel is working on an electric car! Bravo!

How does he juggle and ride a unicycle? Good question!

I'm waving my flag saluting Israel from my chair.
The smiling boy with the Israeli t-shirt is my favorite.
Funny how the smile of a child can melt one's heart in a blink.

Beautiful series of smiling faces on parade! And the little boy's face is aglow with the wonder of it all!

Dear Leora,
I do hope you never thought of Jews as referred to as a Norwegian minority group. On the contrary, we have a rather aggressive and growing group of Islamic activists in our midst. The government hasn't yet found out how to deal with them. They better be quick.

About "Syttende mai", Henrik Wergeland, the one who started the celebration also was the man who fought the Jews case in Norway. I'm posting a link in case you'd like to read more.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henrik_Wergeland

Thank you, Felisol. No, I didn't think it was a Jewish group. Jews have been having many problems in your part of the world recently. As you know.

I will look up the link, soon.

It's a court district of New York. I used to live there.

Happy Tuesday :)

that looks like a wonderful event. great shots and i like the splashes of rubies too.

The whimsical rubies are great, be it part of the lady on stilts or the juggler (I wonder how, too...)

A wonderful ruby is the US flag and it is accented wonderfully by the Israeli Star of David. A parade is always fun, at any age!

SDNY is the Southern District of New York. I remember the acronym well, from having lived in NY.

What fantastic and colorful shots, in more ways than one. The varied settings lend to a festive mood.

All your shots are wonderful celebatory shots.
Love the unicycle/juggling guy with his red cap and nose - coordinated guy!

I tried the unicycle, but couldn't even move one cycle. It must be very clever to juggle as well.

I've entered a major international photo competition (details are on my blog) and would be most grateful if you'd click through and rate my portfolio (just click on the stars at the bottom (preferably the 5th star - "fantastic" - LOL), easy peasy, no registration or personal details needed). Thanks so much!

Hi Leora. That whole electric car thing really impresses me. Before we'll know it, the world will be flooded with eCars. Somehow though, I think it will be very difficult for we in the USA to let go our toys.

The electric car looks as if it is a converted Mini Cooper.

«Louis» + stilts = the very definition of 'incompatible'!
