It all started because Leora did not like the clothes in the store. They were itchy. Later in life, the clothes did not cover enough. “What happened to the sleeves?” Designers could not figure out how to make skirts that covered the knees. When they finally brought midi skirts in style, the fabrics ranged from polyester to cotton treated with pesticides.

So Leora learned how to use a sewing machine. She learned, with the help of some wonderful teachers, how to sew skirts, shirts, and bags. She created skirts from lawn cotton, even though some designers said: avoid lawn cotton. She made a closet full of organic cotton (grown in the U.S.A.) t-shirts in a variety of colors. Currently, she is improving her linen fabric skills.

A side effect of learning to sew was making functional objects like fanny packs, zipper pouches, and fabric wallets. She has plans to sell these at a future boutique in central New Jersey.
