Macros: Water, Flower, Shofar

waters of Niagara Falls
Water is the first of my three macros for this week. This is a detail of the waters of the American Falls of Niagara Falls.

shofar ram's horn
The tail end of the shofar, the ram’s horn, that is sounded every day in the Jewish month of Elul. One does not blow into this larger end of the shofar but into the other, smaller end. It is not easy to do, but if I purse my lips together in a certain way, I can get the right sound.

Hi Leora,
Beautiful shots!
I especially like that water shot. I could just sit and stare at it.

Leora...I loved reading about the horn. That was so interesting. Your macros this week are really awesome. There is something about the first one that is truly stunning, but I have to say I like the colors and feel of the ram’s horn the best. Hope you have a wonderful week. genie

Thanks. I wasn't quite sure the top two qualify as macros, but the definition for the meme seems to be loose, anyway. Somehow this week I wanted three different subjects together, as though they joined a group theme about life.

I'm amazed you can get a sound from the horn, much less one that is the way it is supposed to sound. I can't even make a noise on a trumpet or any type of brass instrument. Love the pictures of the flowers and falls.

Hi there - that water shot is really rather good.

Spent a while trying to work out what was going on in the picture.

Beautiful . . . I love how going in close almost makes the image seem abstract.

I like how you convey the force of the water through this macro shot. The people we are staying with in Sweden have a river in their garden which is quite impressive by my standards. It is a bit too rainy for photos today, but I hope to take a few photos before we leave.

Lovely macros..I am glad that you all enjoyed your visit to the falls. Funny but I have never done the Cave of the Winds tour or the Maid Of The Mist...and I could easily...you have inspired me to go back and visit...Michelle

Michelle, you will save a lot of money by staying on the U.S. side. I *loved* Cave of the Winds, but my daughter found it scary. On that tour we were able to see the Niagara nature up close.

Lovely lovely lovely photos.
I wonder if you hadn't told us that the last photo was a shofar, if anyone could have guessed?

Good idea. Too late.
