Raritan Avenue Watercolor

Raritan Avenue watercolor
My watercolor is of Raritan Avenue, between North Third and North Second Avenues. One of the stores is Jerusalem Pizza. The one on the end, by the big tree, used to be Charlie Brown’s, which went out of business. A new restaurant appears to be opening in its place. Here is a sketch I did prior to this watercolor.

    Hi Leora,

    Beautiful water colours!

thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. Here’s a link to a blog on cooking wild greens ie that invasive mustard: http://www.pennilessparenting.com/search/label/forag

This is really a fine piece of art. It must be great to be able to express oneself through painting.

    • Leora says:

“must be great” – it should be, though I think lately I have been more uptight about doing art. I am my own biggest critic, for sure.

  4. Rayna Eliana says:

This is absolutely beautiful, so very nostalgic looking and quite the fine art example.

    You are so talented.

I’m so privileged to be allowed into your gallery to day.
The street is so harmonious depicted, made me want to go for a walk in the peaceful spring surroundings.
Raritan was an intriguing word. I found it’s a community on NJ, but not the offspring of the word.
I hope to see more of your works later.
Interesting about the sketch. You do have classical art education, eh?

    • Leora says:

      Felisol,

I went to a traditional art school (BU) for one year. I also took numerous art classes. I do prefer a realist, traditional approach to art.

Lots around here is named Raritan – the Raritan River, Raritan Community College, Raritan Valley.
