Last month I was hard-pressed to find any flowers to post for Today’s Flowers. This past week I photographed so many on my block alone! Daffodils, anemones, some little pink ground cover, a little red tulip, vinca, and magnolia blooms. I saw a bleeding heart opening up a few blocks away. Can anyone identify the blue flowers on Friday’s post?
Pictured is a forsythia bloom taken last week in my backyard. Ilana-Davita showed forsythia in her Nature Notes post last week, and she writes a bit about forsythia, a flower known as a harbinger of spring.

Beautiful yellow blooms! Happy TF:)
Really pretty! Our forsythia bloomed some weeks ago, and is now fully green with no remaining flowers. Just as well, I think. Although the temps have been in the 70’s for the last couple of days, we are to get a hard freeze tonight and tomorrow. π I thought Spring was here!
Leora: We are definetly behind where you are with this neat bush. Yours is bloomed and lovely and ours have a few flowers.
Lovely capture of the forsythia…can’t help with the flowers from Friday, sorry
Such a nice little yellow flowers. Sounds like Spring came in for you full blast. π
I’m so glad to hear about the abundance of flowers in your part. Not so here yet but it won’t be long now.
Forsythia seems to be quite popular around the world and no wonder. Vividly yellow blooms in masses. I’d love a shrub (?) like that but perhaps our climate would be too harsh.
Please explain ‘less than perfect’.
Sorry. I got it now. Silly me. I thought you were referring to my english. *Blushing and hiding head in shame*
Oh, I’m sorry my writing that made you feel that way. I was referring to your comments on your own photos, how nature is not perfect, as in a wilted tulip, and our own creations don’t need perfection, as in a bit of a blur on a flower.
Forsythia can look so pretty growing alongside the road. Magnolia blooms smell AWESOME. Before they open, a magnolia looks like an “egg tree” to me π

What a gorgeous shot!! I have brought another lot of forsythia branches into the house, because spring is not coming fast enough out of doors! I like the way you have the one blossom in focus, and the rest blur into the background.
I think the blue flowers are scilla. I am not really sure how to pronounce it, but I have seen it used as a woman’s name in British books.
Hooray! I looked up squill! Comes from Scilla, Italy! Like the name Priscilla!
(doing a little dance of joy here)
I can hardly wait till there are so many flowers I can’t post them all! Lovely forsythia!
I might post one flower every few days. Fun to see new flowers every time I go for a walk.
A nice Forsythis.
Beautiful flower…
Nice capture! Thanks for sharing!
Simple, just four petals and yet so beautiful.
I played for the first time.
Beautiful flowers.
Thanks for posting to TODAY’S FLOWERS.
Hi Leora

Oh, my gosh! I think I posted a photo of the same flower, except that I didn’t know the name. π
I love yellow flowers.

I wonder if you will be getting some of the snow that is coming our way as your blooms are way ahead of us…
Snow? Snow! Snow. I haven’t heard of any. We live in the tropics compared to your area.
We are supposed to have snow, here, this afternoon and possibly tomorrow…and I live in the tropics compared to you. LOL.
wow pretty petite flowers! nice forsythia! mine is up at http://racelyn.com/2009/04/todays-flowers-34.html
It seems that Spring has found you with the number of flowers you mention..forsythia always my favorite Spring blossom!
I didn’t know the name of this lovely flowering plant which lovely yellow flowers decorate our parks. This is beautiful photo that you have taken.
Fine macro shot. I wanted to take part last night but couldn’t post as the access to the blog was limited. I went back today and the notice has disappeared…
What a lovely photo, and the flowers are so delicate looking.
Love those yellow blooms as is a sure sign of spring. Smiles B
Yes, its the season for us to photograph them! Hopefully I wont forget my camera next time Im out. π
Very pretty. The forsythia are just starting to bloom here in southern Connecticut. I love the patches of yellow here and there.
I’m sorry I am late in catching up on your Today’s Flower photo. Always seem to be running behind lately π Love your close-up. Forsythia’s are in full bloom here. It is such a beautiful flower and yours is a great close-up. Thanks for sharing.
