We weren't close - it's the long range of my camera lens. I then cropped the photo so it appears like we are close.

They look accustomed to people! I love every spot on those - such a beautiful animals! I remember hiking on the Balkans with my parents and seeing deers. Here in NC we have deers too - but I haven't seen the one with the pretty spots.

I'm always amazed to see wild animals so close to our suburban sprawl!

We also have them in our neighborhood, too. My neighbor showed me deer hoof prints a few months ago, when the deer ate our tulips.

Just yesterday, at sundown, I saw an adult deer (assuming it was the mama deer) carefully leading 3 fawns across Valentine Ave. in Highland Park into Donaldson Park! I immediately thought, "I have to tell Leora!" Have you seen deer in Highland Park? I wish I had my camera with me, it was such a beautiful sight!

Eva, unfortunately, there are too many deer in our area. I think they have no natural predators and open space is shrinking. We sometimes see deer a few blocks away, in Edison (Hamlin Road area) - my friend tells me she sees them in her backyard a lot, for better or for worse (they might carry lyme disease).
