Today’s Flowers: Fall Rudbeckia
Rudbeckia or black-eyed susans in September 2009
By the end of September my rudbeckia develop a worn look but also a reddish glow inside the yellow petals. Marigolds pop up between the rudbeckia and are looking well, with their ruffles of orange and yellow.

How lovely, so vibrant! I like the flowery blouses of the marigolds peeking through.
The birds we see mostly are on our raspberry bushes. I’ve seen a male and female cardinal there (so proud of myself that I can distinguish the more brightly colored male from the paler red female), but never when my camera was ready.
I’m still talking about buying the bird feeder after my son’s bar-mitzvah (which is soon! less than three weeks).

Hi Leora. This is lovely!
They are beautiful…love the black eye in them. 🙂
I love the way the rudbeckia look with the marigolds popping out. The photograph captures the flowers so well.
Worn but still very beautiful in their retirement. Thanks for sharing Leora.
I love the fall flowers. This is a gorgeous picture of your garden.
They may be fading but it’s still a beautiful image.
Beautiful flower image!
still smiling for you sandy
Beautiful fall colors, Leora! Mine looks the same…sad but true but we’ll see them again next year! 😉
So delicate a color and blossom even at the close of the season.
Do you see any birds taking the seeds?

Leora: The season ends with a promise of a return at theturn of a year.
A telltale sign of Summer that has passed!
I love to leave them in the garden for some winter interest.
Oh, this looks so lovely and colorful! Thanks for sharing.
lovely colorful flowers.
I love the way you have shown us the whole clump, rather than focusing on one flower. We see a true picture of the decline of the summer!!
Rudbeckia are such hard workers in the garden! I love them almost as much as purple coneflowers.
beautiful! the colours are so sweet!
No color at all remains on our rudbeckia – only the black centers. Am already looking forward to them coming back next year.
Withered but very colorful; beautiful.
Yours still have some life to them. Mine are gone, even the seed heads have been picked clean…
