Highland Park Street Fair 2013 - umbrellas in the rain
Highland Park Street Fair 2013 – umbrellas in the rain

Despite the rain, people wandered down Raritan Avenue last Sunday exploring the booths, talking to vendors and meeting friends. Maybe I’ll use this as inspiration for a watercolor – I love the colorful umbrellas.

As an experiment, I wrote this post before I left for Israel, left it as a draft in my WordPress backend, and published it via my iPad mini while visiting Israel. Hope to publish some posts with Israel pics soon.

Thanks for the link! The weather seems as depressing in Highland Park as here!

It was gorgeous and sunny the next day, when everyone went back to work.

Thanks for the link. I look forward to a possible water color...the umbrellas would really make a great perspective.

I hope I can pull off a nice umbrella watercolor at some point. I saw a great one by a current artist on Pinterest - I can't remember the name.

I took over 250 photos. Maybe tomorrow I will post a few. I already wrote the post; it's about using an iPad as a tourist in Israel and the search for wifi.

It's good to see the rain didn't stop these people from being out and about.

No, although I bet more would have come if the skies were clear.

Umbrellas come in so many designs, and can be so pleasing to look at, though I always just have a boring black one ;)

Black isn't always so boring - I bought my daughter a big black one with a hooked wooden handle, because it was part of her Mary Poppins costume. She now uses it regularly in the rain.
